Thirty Five Years Contest
The ‘name your favorite cover’ contest
This Winter 2026 edition of Sandpoint Magazine celebrated the magazine’s 35th anniversary. To mark the occasion we had a contest for people to pick their top three favorite magazine covers and tell us why; all who participated got entered for a $350 cash prize. We picked the winner by random drawing on February 14 and the prize goes to … Debbie Breckenridge of Sandpoint. Congrats to Debbie!
For the record, here were Debbie’s picks, and her reasons why:
Summer 1994, Timber Town, USA: “Love the logging history”
Summer 2024, Wonderful Waters: “Waterfalls are the best”
Summer 1991, Ross Hall’s Lake Pend Oreille: “Incredible shot, love the God rays!”
So which magazine covers were overall favorites? Well, as a testament that Sandpoint Magazine’s covers are almost always pretty iconic, 41 different magazine covers got voted a No. 1 favorite. Here were the covers that got the most No. 1 votes:
Summer 2007, 25 Years of the Festival at Sandpoint: 11 first-place votes
Summer 2024, Wonderful Waters: 7 first-place votes (tie)
Winter 2019, Moosing Around: 7 first-place votes (tie)
Summer 1997, Land of the Kalispel: 6 first-place votes
And here are the magazine covers that got the most votes overall, counting all first, second and third place picks:

Winter 2019, Moosing Around: 22 votes
Summer 2007, 25 Years of the Festival at Sandpoint: 20 votes:

I really enjoy the quality and contents of the magazine, and look forward to each new edition. The articles are interesting, the photos always good and
you cover so many topics/events/restaurants that any tourist (or local, for that matter), should be well informed.
Thank you for quality…I actually mailed a batch of past copies to a friend in NYC
to entice her to move! Susan
The covers are always beautiful and capture who we are.
